Clacks Council

The Clackmannanshire Council’s Economic Development service is committed to working with partners, including businesses, to build a dynamic local economy that makes Clackmannanshire a successful place driven by a confident community.

As part of that commitment, it established the ‘Clackmannanshire Works’ team in its current form in 2011. Clackmannanshire Works brings together a range of services that aim to boost the local economy by supporting local residents and businesses. It is funded by the Council and external sources such as European Structural Funds and Skills Development Scotland.

Clackmannanshire Works offer bespoke one-to-one business start-up advice and support with growing existing businesses. This support is additional to that already available from either Business Gateway or Scottish Enterprise.

Clackmannanshire Works provide the following services FREE OF CHARGE:

  • Business start-up advice including developing business plans, finance, marketing, HR and many other issues.
  • Supporting you to access Planning, Licensing and other Council services.
  • Linking you in to other business support organisations.
  • Finding financial help for recruitment and other business growth costs.
  • Advertising jobs, work placements and apprenticeships.
  • Sourcing potential candidates for employment, work experience and apprenticeships through pre-screening                     of candidates and arranging interviews for selected applicants on your behalf.
  • Help to source and arrange training for new and existing staff.
  • Providing access to any grants available for recruitment and/or upskilling of staff.
  • Brokering links with schools, colleges and other employability support organisations.
  • Considering alternatives to redundancies to reduce costs without laying off valued staff or providing advice                     and support if you do have to make staff redundant.

The service is based in the Council’s Kilncraigs building at Greenside Street, Alloa.
